Serving Congregations in Metro Chicago

Welcome to our Chicagoland URJ Community!

Thanks for your interest! We have been in place since the very beginning of the URJ Community effort—representing 34 congregations ranging from northwest Indiana to the western and northern suburbs of Chicago all the way up to the Wisconsin border. We’re so fortunate in that our congregations are fairly contiguous to one another (we have over 20 congregations in the greater Chicago area alone); so, geography is not an impediment to us getting together. And neither is size. We’ve found that all our congregations—large and small—have found common ground in topics of interest. Whether that topic is social justice, engaging volunteers, securing new leadership, fund raising, leadership development, collaborating with our clergy in sacred trust, or transitioning into the presidency—we’ve found plenty of topics in which we have shared interests!

Since 2013, we’ve held four presidents’ meetings and one community event—a Controlling Gun Violence Shabbaton in March of 2014. We’re now planning a very exciting Leadership Development Event on October 11 at Temple Chai in Long Grove, Illinois along with a presidents’ meeting at Biennial in November.

We would be honored to have your participation. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to call or email one of us. We look forward to hearing from you!
