Southeastern Conference of Congregations (SECC)

Serving Congregations in MS, AR, LA, Western TN

Welcome to the Southeastern Conference of Congregations! Our 36 congregations range in size from 9 members (Natchez, MS) to 1500 families (Memphis, TN). What we have in common besides hot summers is that with the exception of New Orleans and Baton Rouge, each congregation is the only Reform Temple (and often only synagogue) in town. All of us have issues concerning membership, finances and clergy relations, and the SECC provides a network of Southern presidents to share ideas and find solutions to common problems. Because of our wide geographic reach (AR, MS, LA, W. TN, FL panhandle and part of AL), regular in-person meetings are difficult. Therefore, we have scheduled quarterly conference calls/webinars to discuss matters of common interest. In 2015, we had a call with URJ board president Steve Sacks, RAC organizer Isaac Nuell, and URJ CFO Barbara Saidel.
