Youth Advisor, Congregation B'nai Jehoshua Beth Elohim

BJBE, a vibrant reform congregation in Deerfield, is looking for a part-time youth advisor for the remainder of the 2017-2018 school year. For the right candidate, the position could continue with opportunities for growth.

We are looking for someone who will be a role model for Jewish values, bring an enthusiasm for Jewish living, and be a strong leadership presence with the ability to engage our students and create community.

Our youth advisor will work with our three youth groups: KYG (3rd-5th grades), JYG (6th-8th grades), and SYG (9th-12th grades).

Responsibilities Include:

  • Implementing monthly activities for each youth group, including finalizing logistics, recruitment, and tracking attendance. Activities scheduled for 2017-2018 can be found on our website.
  • Creating publicity for events via flyers, email, Facebook, phone calls, announcements at Chai School and JLC, and other congregational avenues.
  • Chaperoning all KYG, JYG, and SYG events, as well as regional NFTY Kallot, and ensuring that adequate staffing has been provided.
  • Supervising the SYG board in their monthly meetings, encouraging growth and leadership development for each teen.
  • Maintaining organized files, records, and finances.
  • Assuring consistent monthly reporting to the congregation through SYG president attendance at BJBE Board of Directors meetings, as well as through mid-month mailer, website, and social media.
  • Encouraging relationship building between participants.
  • Strengthening participants’ Jewish identity and connection to BJBE.
