Reform Movement Condemns Terrorist Attack on Israelis

NEW YORK, NY-The leader of the North American Reform Movement today strongly condemned the deadly terrorist bombing of a busy restaurant in central Jerusalem that is reported to have left at least fifteen people, including 6 infants, dead and nearly 90 wounded.

"We have no words strong enough to express our revulsion at the terrorist bombing of the restaurant in Jerusalem that has claimed the lives of eighteen Israelis, including 6 infants, and left 90 wounded from the blast," said Rabbi Eric H. Yoffie, president of the Union of American Hebrew Congregations. "We express our deepest sorrow and condolences to the families of the victims of this horrific attack."

Rabbi Yoffie continued, "There can be no prospect for peace between the Israeli and Palestinian people so long as such terrorism continues. We demand that the Palestinian Authority do everything in its power to prevent such horrific acts. We also call upon the U.S. government to renew its efforts to bring about an end to this violence."

Last week Rabbi Yoffie led a 165-member Reform Movement mission to Israel.
